Postpartum depression (PPD) is common. According to the National Library of Medicine, in their article “Postpartum Depression”, they note that 1 in 7 women can develop postpartum depression! However, there is an extreme amount of shame coupled with this that makes seeking treatment difficult for mothers. Therefore, many mothers suffer silently. They are afraid of even sharing how they feel with family and friends for fear of being abandoned or judged. When a mother breastfeeds, it adds additional stress onto her body and emotions. In the following articles, we will explore more about postpartum depression and breastfeeding. We will look at the reality of the difficulties of breastfeeding, the likelihood of getting PPD, warning signs breastfeeding is doing more harm than good for the mother, and more!
