Our minds are so powerful in how they affect our emotional health. Obviously we want to keep our thoughts thinking on positive things instead of letting our mind run wild! That’s why I’ve created these affirmations for moms. There are 30 of them. Take one a day for a month. Note how they positively affect your emotional health as you train your mind to think on the positive instead of the negative!
Benefits Of Thinking Positively
Our thoughts impact our bodies, quality of sleep, level of energy, and mood. On the page Emotional Health, we learned what common negative thoughts mothers have. We know negative thoughts impact our bodies. Now let’s talk about our positive thoughts.
When we think positive thoughts, it impacts many areas in our lives. Below are some of the benefits of thinking positive thoughts.
- Ability to handle life’s hardships better (good resiliency)
- Better resilience to sickness
- Decreased depression
- Improved physiological wellbeing
- Less likely to get cancer
- Longer lifespan
- Lower levels of pain and distress
- Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease and stroke
I have heard one mother say that all of the demands of motherhood were so tough for her that she felt like suicide was the only option out. Notably, this mother had a loving, supportive husband. Additionally, she adored her children. She was just so tired and weighed down by the demands of motherhood that she wanted to quit.
I believe if we as mothers determine to think positive thoughts and reframe our thinking, we will have longer lifespans because we will be less likely to think suicidal or dark thoughts.

Now, if you desire more of the health benefits listed above in your life, make a commitment to yourself. Promise yourself that you will strive for a healthier you by taking control of your thoughts. Below I share more about how we can practically do this.
Reframing Our Thoughts
If you desire to take back energy and mental strength lost to negative thoughts, then you must practice reframing your thoughts! What is reframing your thoughts?
Simply put reframing your thoughts is thinking of something in the positive instead of in the negative. For example, a common negative thought mothers have is, “I’m not good enough as a mother” or, “I’m not as great of a mother as so and so.” Obviously we don’t want to stay in that rut because a thought like that will drain us of our energy, make us feel defeated, and not motivate us to invest all we can into our children.
“Simply put reframing your thoughts is thinking of something in the positive instead of in the negative.”
We need to reframe that thought! Instead of thinking, “I’m not good enough as a mother” think, “I am learning new motherly skills every single day!” or, “I am giving my children my very best and that is all I can expect of myself.”
They say it takes 28 days of doing something to make it a habit. If you desire to take back your energy, mental stamina, emotional health, and joy, take one of these affirmations every day for the next 30 days. Each day practice replacing just one negative thought with that affirmation.
Be patient with yourself. Don’t beat yourself up every time you have a negative thought and start putting even more negative thoughts into your head! Obviously we want to think more positive thoughts and not more negative thoughts.
